The urgency of this research arises from significant issues faced by modern society, where social media often promotes beauty standards that are not only unrealistic but also exclusive and detrimental. These standards can potentially cause body image disorders and social anxiety, especially among teenagers and adults, making this research not only academically relevant but also crucial for public health and social policy. This research employs a qualitative approach with netnographic methods within a constructivist paradigm to understand the dynamics of communication and self-representation on social media related to the "I Love Me" movement. The study was conducted by collecting primary data through the social media analysis application Keyhole, which provides frequency, reach, and types of interactions related to the campaign or hashtag used by the movement. Secondary data were also gathered from various sources including books, scholarly articles, and media reports discussing beauty standards, the influence of social media, and related social movements. Data collection techniques include systematic media observation and documentation, and data analysis was performed using the methods of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana, which involve data conditioning, categorization, and systematic conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the "I Love Me" movement has successfully created a dialogue that supports physical diversity and promotes mental health by challenging the dominant commercial and harmful beauty narratives. The movement demonstrates its effectiveness in leveraging social media to change beauty perceptions, reduce stress and pressure related to body image, and support self-acceptance and beauty in all forms.
2025-05-02T00:00:00+07:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Nona Khairiah, Hasan Sazali https://pcijournal.org/index.php/ijcss/article/view/995 THE ROLE OF NONVERBAL COMMUNICATION IN IMPROVING INTERPERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS IN THE WORKPLACE 2025-04-27T15:58:16+07:00 Rafa Nadia rafanadia.0603213127@uinsu.ac.id Abdi Mubarak Syam abdimubaraksyam@uinsu.ac.id
Nonverbal communication plays a strategic role in fostering effective interpersonal relationships, particularly in dynamic work environments such as the event organizer (EO) industry. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation. The study involved purposively selected participants, including supervisors, event coordinators, field staff, and liaison officers, based on their direct experience with team communication. The findings reveal that nonverbal elements such as facial expressions, eye contact, hand gestures, and body posture play crucial roles in conveying instructions, fostering team unity, and building trust among team members and with clients. However, challenges such as cultural differences in interpreting nonverbal cues and high work pressure sometimes hinder effective communication. The study concludes that nonverbal communication serves as a vital tool in creating cohesive teamwork and a harmonious working atmosphere in EO environments. In this context, children often experience indirect care that has the potential to ignore the fulfillment of their basic rights, such as the right to education, protection, and affection. This study uses a normative legal approach with legislative and case approach techniques, and is analyzed in a juridical-qualitative manner. Data were obtained through literature studies and documentation of national regulations, international conventions, and relevant scientific literature. The results of the study indicate that there is a gap between applicable legal norms and their implementation in the field. Legal protection for children in this situation has not been effective, especially due to the absence of a monitoring mechanism that is adaptive to seasonal migration patterns. The implications of this study emphasize the urgency of establishing a community-based protection system and regional policies that are responsive to indirect care patterns in agrarian areas. In addition, there needs to be cross-sector integration between village governments, educational institutions, and child protection institutions to ensure the fulfillment of children's rights in a sustainable manner.
2025-06-01T00:00:00+07:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Yongky Indriawan, Diyan Isnaeni, Suratman https://pcijournal.org/index.php/ijcss/article/view/1039 IMPLEMENTATION OF CLINICAL SUPERVISION AT STATE ISLAMIC HIGH SCHOOL BINJAI 2025-06-02T10:40:34+07:00 Siti Aisyah siti0332234028@uinsu.ac.id Candra Wijaya candrawijaya@uinsu.ac.id Fatkhur Rohman fatkhurrohman@uinsu.ac.id
This study aims to analyze the implementation of clinical supervision at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri Binjai and its impact on improving teachers' pedagogical competence. The main objective of this study is to identify the forms of digital bullying experienced by students and explore the emotional and social responses that arise as a result of the incident. Using a qualitative approach with a case study method, data were collected through in-depth interviews with five students who were victims of cyberbullying, direct observation in the school environment, and supporting documentation. The results of the study showed that all respondents experienced psychological stress such as deep shame, excessive anxiety, and fear in social interactions, both online and offline. In addition, cyberbullying also has an impact on decreased concentration in learning, academic achievement, and reluctance to participate in school activities. The variation in social support received by victims also shows a significant gap in the student assistance and protection system at school. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of collaborative interventions between schools, families, and digital communities to build a comprehensive detection, assistance, and recovery system for victims of cyberbullying. The results of the study indicate that the choice of informal mediation is not only due to limited access to the formal legal system, but further reflects collective trust in the social and historical authority of the village head. This confirms the existence of legal pluralism, where formal law and local law not only coexist but also influence each other in the practice of conflict resolution. The village head acts as a legal broker who bridges state law with the law that lives in society. The implications of this finding emphasize that justice at the grassroots level is the result of a complex interaction between norms, culture, and social structures. This study highlights the importance of investigating self-diagnosis practices among students in a local context characterised by diverse socio-cultural backgrounds and a high level of social media usage. The research aims to explore students’ perceptions, focusing on how self-diagnosis affects their mental health and the patterns of acceptance formed around it. A qualitative approach with a phenomenological method was employed, involving in-depth interviews with ten purposively selected students from public universities in Medan. Thematic coding was used to analyse the data, guided by Stuart Hall’s audience reception theory, categorising students into dominant, negotiation, and opposition groups. Findings reveal that students with dominant acceptance readily trust unverified online mental health content, while those in negotiation display partial acceptance with cautious evaluation, and the opposition group critically rejects such content in favour of professional consultation. The study contributes to the existing literature by integrating social and digital contexts in understanding self-diagnosis practices and proposes the development of educational interventions and policy recommendations to improve students' critical engagement with digital mental health information.
2025-06-10T00:00:00+07:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Adhitya Bima Permana, Hasan Sazali https://pcijournal.org/index.php/ijcss/article/view/1022 THE IMPACT OF SOCIAL COMPARISON ON INSTAGRAM WITH BODY IMAGE ESTABELISMENT IN YOUNG ADULTS 2025-05-31T22:03:03+07:00 Kinanthi Riandifa kinanthidifaa@gmail.com Kezia Arum Sary kezia.arumsary@fisip.unmul.ac.id Kheyene Molekandella Boer kezia.arumsary@fisip.unmul.ac.id Nurliah kinanthidifaa@gmail.com
The purpose of this study is to determine whether the impact of Social Media Comparison can influence body image formation among young adults, especially Instagram users. This research discusses the contradiction in the regulation of punishment against perpetrators of sexual abuse against children in Aceh which is regulated in Qanun Jinayat and national laws and regulations such as the Criminal Code, Law No. 12 of 2022 concerning Criminal Acts of Sexual Violence, and Law No. 35 of 2014 concerning Child Protection. This paper uses a juridical-normative approach by focusing on juridical analysis and a legal philosophy approach by examining the concept of legal certainty in a normative- positivistic perspective and legal certainty in an Islamic perspective. The results of this study indicate that synchronization between national law and sharia law in Aceh is needed to eliminate norm inconsistencies that can weaken the effectiveness of law enforcement. The Attorney General's Office in Aceh as a Law Enforcement Official also needs to change the prosecution paradigm that prioritizes the interests of the perpetrator to be more in favor of the victim. Because, in Islamic law, the purpose of punishment is not only limited to retribution, but also includes prevention (deterrence), repair (reformation), and education for the community (al-tahzib). Therefore, ideally, the regulation of criminal law in Aceh is not only oriented towards formal legal certainty, but must also pay attention to aspects of benefit so that the law can provide more effective protection for victims.
2025-06-10T00:00:00+07:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Rabiatul Hadawiah Lubis, Faisal Faisal https://pcijournal.org/index.php/ijcss/article/view/1043 RISK MANAGEMENT ANALYSIS OF OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY IN LOADING AND UNLOADING PROCESSES ON PASSENGER SHIPS ALONG THE KIJANG–SUNGAI GUNTUNG ROUTE (CASE STUDY ON KM SABUK NUSANTARA 110) 2025-06-02T22:11:02+07:00 Embun Febryanti Panggabean embun220224@gmail.com Juliana Nasution juliananasution@uinsu.ac.id
This study aims to analyze the Occupational Safety and Health (OHS) risk management in the loading and unloading process on KM Sabuk Nusantara 110.
