A HYBRID AHP–GIS APPROACH FOR PRIORITIZING DIVORCE FACTORS AND MAPPING SPATIAL VULNERABILITY IN MEDAN CITY

Divorce remains a persistent problem in Medan City, yet prior studies examine its causes in isolation, rarely linking them to spatial vulnerability. This study ranks the dominant causes of divorce and maps their spatial distribution across 21 districts. Judgments from 50 experts (judges, psychologists, family-law academics, advocates, religious counselors/mediators) were aggregated via the Analytical Hierarchy Process (CR < 0.10); GIS then applied Getis-Ord Gi* hot-spot testing and a population-normalized ratio to 2020–2024 records from the Medan Religious Court, Disdukcapil, and BPS. The two components are combined interpretively, not through a fused weighted-overlay. Economic Factors were the dominant cause (35.38%), followed by Domestic Violence (28.91%); psychological/emotional violence (14.02%) was the most influential sub-criterion. Medan Marelan, Deli, Belawan, and Labuhan formed the highest-vulnerability cluster; Medan Johor had the lowest ratio and a confirmed Cold Spot. These are descriptive, non-causal findings that can inform targeted family-resilience policy.
